The Ancient Cedar Avenue is a scenic walking trail located in the Lake Ashi area of Japan. It is known for its towering cedar trees, some of which are over 800 years old. The trail is approximately 500 meters long and takes around 20-30 minutes to complete. There is no entrance fee to access the trail.
The Ancient Cedar Avenue is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the autumn months when the leaves change color. The trail is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily.
There is no official website for the Ancient Cedar Avenue, but it is easily accessible from the Hakone area. Visitors can take a bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Moto-Hakone and then transfer to a second bus that stops at the trailhead.
In the surrounding area, visitors can also explore the Lake Ashi area, which offers views of Mt. Fuji and the Hakone Shrine. The Hakone Ropeway is also a popular attraction that takes visitors up to the Owakudani volcanic valley. The Hakone Open-Air Museum is also a short distance away and features outdoor sculptures and artwork.
It is recommended to check the hours of operation for each attraction before visiting.
